  • How do we make our soaps?
First, we source quality soap noodles and mix all our own essential oil blends in-house. Ingredients and additives (Australian-sourced as often as we can) are all well mixed to ensure they are evenly distributed before the soap is cooled and then grated into fine particles. These then proceed to the triple-mill stage, where the particles are then put through a roller and turned into a paste. We don't just do it once, we mill everything twice! This blends and condenses the soap which gives it unbeatable longevity and a premium quality feel. Next, the soap travels into our vacuum plodder and is extruded through a shape plate. We then cut each soap with a high speed guillotine. The soaps are then fed onto a conveyor belt and are hand packed by our team. Sometimes the bars are also run through a stamping process to make our beautiful shaped soaps. Triple milled soap is considered to be the most effecient way to make high quality soap, as the process extracts any excess moisture or air from the bar, leaving you with the purest form of soap available, that has a much greater density as a result of the excess moisture being squeezed out of it. So it's not only smoother in texture, it also produces a much richer lather, giving you a more luxurious, premium product, that lasts longer and makes it better value for your money. Plus it is much better for those with sensitive skin or skin allergies, as soap that is not milled this way, still contains small traces of lye, which bonds to the skin and traps grease and dirt, whereas triple milled soap leaves your skin clean and fresh without any chemical residue.

  • Why do some soap fade?
We use no artificial colour stabilisers or preservatives in our soap. Natural soaps which contain natural extracts and oils may discolour when exposed to strong lights and upon ageing. This is a natural process and in no way will affect the quality of the soap bar.
  • Why does soap sweat and how to avoid it
The soap-making process naturally produces glycerin, a humectant that is great for your skin. However, its ability to attract moisture means that in very humid weather, little glycerin beads or droplets may develop on the surface of the soap, also referred to as 'sweat' or 'dew'. The moisture is being pulled towards the soap, it's not the soap exuding the moisture. Glycerine and other humectants draw moisture towards them, which is why they're used in skin care. It's just a cosmetic effect, your soap is still fine to use. Why does it happen? Two things are needed - a humectant (which in soap is glycerine) and a moist atmosphere (as in rainy weather or humidity). It is not usual for soap to sweat, however, this is more of a common occurrence during the unseasonal wet weather and humidity we've been experiencing thanks to the La Nina and El Nino weather events. Solution: If your soap does sweat, you can choose to leave the droplets on the surface of the soap and see if they reabsorb in over the next few days, or dab at the moisture with a paper towel to soak them up. Place the soap in front of a fan to help with air circulation, running a small dehumidifier in the area or using a product such as DampRid can be very helpful in humid environments. Prevention is better than cure, so it's ideal to store your soap in a dry air-tight container or keep it covered to help insulate it from any moisture in the air until you're ready to use it in your bathroom or sink etc.
